Calista Amankwah
Founding attorney, franchise counsel
I started this firm for the owner who is handed a ten-year contract and a pen. I want you to sign that contract, or hand it back, knowing exactly what it says.
Most of my career has been spent on the paper that sits behind a franchise: the disclosure document, the agreement and the lease. I have read thousands of pages of it from the owner’s side, and I still read each one fresh.
I work out of the Boca Raton office and take calls in the evening when a signing deadline is close. I also work with Ilan and Dimitra, so the right lawyer takes the right matter.

Away from the counter
When I am not reading contracts, I am usually at a farmers’ market on a Saturday morning, buying from owners I have never met. It keeps me honest about what a small business is: one person, a table and a lot of promises.
